For Immediate Release - January 24, 2008 Black Gold Legacy, LLC celebrates and honours memory during the 2008 Black Gold Stakes Race Richard Freeman’s children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, will carry on the tradition and participate in the annual “Laying of the Wreath” on Saturday, February 2, 2008, at Churchill Downs’ Fair Grounds Race Course in New Orleans, Louisiana. This is a special day for all of the family to remember and honour the memory of Black Gold. We are so appreciative that this ceremony has continued every year since its inception in 1958. Black Gold Legacy, LLC., (BGL) is the merchandising arm formed in 2005 to promote the awareness of the story and memory of Rosa Hoots - - the Osage Indian woman who owned Black Gold. BGL will offer special event pricing at Fair Grounds Race Course from 11:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Black Gold’s photos, T-shirts, prints and other memorabilia. “Our hope,” Collins states, “is that the awareness of Black Gold will be brought to the mainstream public, and that the forthcoming book and screenplay will depict ‘Black Gold’s’ true courage and spirit with which he lived his all too brief life”. Our appreciation goes out to the staff at Fair Grounds Race Course, specifically to Mr. Lenny Vangilder who works closely with the family to create this momentous event each year. Please visit the web site for more information and to purchase unique Black Gold merchandise and memorabilia. |
