Welcome to the Black Gold web site 1924 Louisiana, Kentucky, Ohio and Chicago Derby Champion and The R. W. Freeman Black Gold Legacy, LLC
|
The Black Gold Legacy group conducted a promotion giving "Your
Guide to Horseracing Terminology" to the fans of Black Gold and racing
enthusiasts. This was one of the last projects done while Richard was
alive, and coordinated by his granddaughter Michelle and daughter
Theresa.
Black Gold Legacy, LLC. was formed early in 2005 and is charged with
Magnet Hoots ~ the second woman to own a Thoroughbred race horse
that won the storied "Run for the Roses" and the first American Indian)
to the upcoming generation(s).
Quoting Richard Freeman's son, Christopher Freeman while at the
Louisiana Derby during the inaugural event, he commented in a
Times-Picayune article about the 1947 Black Gold film produced as
being completely wrong, a farce, and an insult to the family. Our (Black
Gold Legacy, LLC.) goal, is published book and follow this with a screen
play.
In addition to the book project and screenplay, Black Gold Legacy, LLC
has been charged with the responsibility of locating the four Derby
trophies won by Black Gold in 1924, which were stolen from Rosa's
home in Tulsa Oklahoma, while the family was attending racing meetings
in the 1930's. By recovering the prized trophies, the wish that Rosa
made so long ago in the winner's circle, "That the trophy (ies) will be
given to my grandchildren, for them to always keep" can become a
reality.
The web site: www.blackgold1924.com , the Kentucky Derby Museum,
and seasonally the Churchill Downs Fairgrounds Racecourse seasonally
has Black Gold memorabilia available for his fans and racing enthusiasts
to enjoy and to chisel his memory into the future.
